Aldi face serum vs Boots

Which is best - the Lacuna from aldi which retails at under £4 or Boots Protect and Perfect at around £20.

I know the aldi product came out on top in a recent survey but what do folk on here think?

  • I think what's best is what you can afford. In my current financial situation I wouldn't even think of buying the Boots p&p, but I can afford the Aldi face serum. I do like the texture (not too heavy), the smell (fresh, not cloying or old ladyish) and I do feel theres a difference when I am dilligent to put it on. I might not be able to afford everything but doing what I can makes me feel a little less deprived!
No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!

Thank you for this. I have recently started using the Boots P&P, but when I've used that up I shall give the Aldi one a go. It certainly makes sense!

I quite like the Aldi one but it does seem a cheaper product. I personally don't like the fragrance they use and I find it takes longer to absorb.

That being said I don't see much difference between them in the effects they produce.

Amanita - do you notice a difference in your skin though? I quite fancy trying the Aldi serum although I got spots from the boots one.
I have realised I will never play the Dane! :(

Well it doesn't bring me out in spots like many creams and potions do. It leaves my skin nice and soft. I didn't see any huge improvement with Boots and I don't with this one but my skin is pretty good to start with although I have some fine lines around the eyes.

The Aldi one that I love is the Collagen Wrinkle filler- I can actually see the lines disappear when I use it especially a horrid vertical line above one eyebrow that I've been considering an injectable filler for. Now if they could only make the results permanent. :rotfl:
  • Sad to say that the Boots No7 P & P intense serum is now £20.50....eeek! The original serum may be cheaper... The only thing that worried me when i started researching anti-aging creams is that the Aldi one seems to have no scientific evidence behind it like the Boots one does. Nothing was actually proven by science....

The survey/test that was completed by the mirror (i presume that this is the one mentioned above) also seemed a bit 'amateurish'. I can find little information on the actual test completed, if there were any controls, blind tests etc, (If anyone finds info please post a link!) However the great british public found the Lacura one to be a good alternative and £3.49 isnt exactly breaking the bank to try something is it...

I do like the Cien moisturiser though from Lidl - very lightweight formula but equally moisturising. I would personally try both for a month and compare the difference but use the same facial cleansing/toning products, drink the same amount of water, same diet etc to make sure the difference is down to the serums...

    Right...off to Aldi then...

I noticed a huge difference with No 7 P&P but when it came off 3 for 2 I tried the Aldi one. Have to say I havent noticed a difference as I did with P&P and also I have come out in spots :( but that could be hormonal.

On the grabbit thread somebody is recommending an Estee Lauder product reduced from £50 to £44, apparently it lasts for ages which P&P doesnt.
