husbands debt-should I close joint acct

My husnband at the moemnt still refuses to have anything to do with his debts and think they will just dissapear! I have contacted one of the linked companies to sound a few things out and I am now feeling better that since the house and bills are all paid by me if it comes to the worst they will be safe. I now have a dilemma about a joint account. The account is not used and hasnt been for a few months .Have contacted the bank who due to branch closures are no longer local to get the account transferred solely to hubby but they wont do this unless he goes in and with the hours he has at the mo thats going to be impossible. My thinking is this. The bank acct is the only thing linking us financially so would it be best to close this account so my credit rating would not be affected in case he gets a ccj against him? the only thing that I am thinking of is when he gets a proper job he will need an acct for his wages to be paid and if he gets a ccj he wont be able to get an account. Dilemma! another question- i had an experian check on my name and all was fine except there was some link to my husband which wasnt fully explained and I can only think it would be this account. If i cancelled it or transferred it now b4 any action had been taken against him would I still be implicated or could i contact them to get the link removed? thanks

Yeah, why not close it, it will improve your credit ratings, and his too probaby. Does he not have a bank account of his own then? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
No, he had one years ago but got into trouble and never bothered after that so I suggested he opened one with me as I have (until now!) good credit rating0

Hi worried wife,
When he gets a job he can have his wages paid into any account he likes (if it is via BACS) so he could get it paid into your account. If he will get paid by cheque, get him to open a basic bank account (no overdraft and basic facilities).Saving for an early retirement!0
