Advice wanted desperately please folks!

Afternoon all

First time posting on here and after some advice on what is quickly making my life a misery..

3 years (Oct 07) ago I took a debt management plan on with Advanced Debt Solutions for the sum of £24,000. I have been paying £320 each and every month without fail for that time. I was aware that I would be paying them approx £50 pcm for them to take the hassle away from me!!!

I was told when I took this on that the interest on my accounts with creditors would more than likely be frozen and I would not have to worry about the debt that I had amassed. I called today as I noticed interest on one of my statements to be told that "we can contact them and get this stopped"... Why has it taken me a phone call to highlight this - is this not what they are supposed to be doing??

Now, I still have £16500 of debt and if I keep paying the amount I can afford, £320, I will be debt free in another 5 years!! Surely this can not be correct???????

ADS is now Harrington Brooks and to be truthful they are useless. Never returning calls, updating me or anything for that matter.

There must be a way I can get out of this or actually do something that will help me get out of this predicament?

I would be eternally grateful for any advice on what I can do next as feel I am getting nowhere and the problem is just getting worse.

Many thank

Kevin

Hello Kev and welcome. As Numpty says, there are firms out there who will not charge you for running a DMP, as they get their income in other ways, including interest earned on people's monthly payments received before they pay out to the creditors. You might want to consider doing a Statement of Affairs (see sticky at top of threads list - first time posters, SOA calculator) and post it on here, and you will get some ideas about cutting costs.

To back up what has already been said, you need to move to a free DMP provider. Use the list above.

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies
