HFC Bank, unlawful default? URGENT ADVICE NEEDED

Marisco, exactly - we heard nothing from bank, as far as we knew the DD was still being taken! I have heard of some cases where HFC have cancelled their own DD? I am wondering if this is the case? I will have to ask for all the old bank statements and for the bank to look back at what happened here!!:(0

Netso, this is where internet banking is a godsend!! I don't know how I managed without it! I look in at least once a week to make sure everything is paid out as it should and if there is a glitch I get straight on the phone. Deffo contact your bank and ask for back statements if you don't have the originals, go through them with a tooth comb and if the payments were stopped, ask the bank for an explanation. But a change of address certainly shouldn't affect the DD's.0

Sorry but from your posts it seems to me you are trying to push blame onto HFC when in fact it is not their fault, well it isnt is it come on now??????
Why did you not follow your letters up with a quick phone call? You already say that the first month failed dd was due to lack of funds you could have easily had a default just for that irrelevant wether it would have cleared the month later or not.
It was "your" agreement and "your" responsibility to make sure payment was leaving your account every month HFC cant be held accountable for any of this in my opinion, I dont mean to sound harsh but such is life..........
If it is any concellation as long as you have a good record with Natwest and you give them the letter from HFC confirming the debt has been settled along with an explanation that makes some kind of sense then the mortgae may well be ok, I would not start panicking just yet as there may well ne no reason to panic.
I dont mean to sound harsh but IMO the blame lands at your doorstep so to speak........."You can measure a man's character by the choices he makes under pressure"Sir Winston Churchill0
