Hen Party Dilemias!!

There's been a constant battle of what to do for my Hen Party. My bridesmaid is lovely, but skint, so I've decided whatever we do I can afford to pay up to £50 towards hers if we go for a weekend away etc.

Had a good chat with another mate last night and she told me that my Hen Party should be doing things that I'll never get the chance to do again. Which is true as we're hoping to start a family straight away.

So I've been researching and come up with 2 options....

1) A weekend in Alton Towers (late October). Found a travelodge an hour away that is next to a tabletable restaurant and is cheap. For entry to the park, petrol and accomodation it's about £50 per person. The plan would be we'd go up after work on the Friday, grab a burger somewhere on the way (4 hour drive) and then stay in the hotel. Next day drive to park and spend day there then come back to hotel and go for meal in restaurant. Then stay in hotel and maybe go somewhere on the way home (Birmingham or Cribbs for shopping trip!).

2) The local indoor playcenter does Adult bookings! For £20 each we would get an hour and a half of acting like small children with big slides and ball pools etc etc. Then after there is a restaurant a 5 minute drive away that does carvery's so we could all go there for meal and drinkies after icon_smile.gif

But I'm not sure what to do! If I did the weekend away there would prob be 5 of us and then I'd do a big night out when we got back. Or if I did the playcentre that would be the only thing I did. But would you pay £20 to go in a play center for an hour and a half?

i think its alot of money too aswell as your meal + drinks later on it will probably be just under the £50 so i think alton towers sounds ALOT more fun and you get more for your money!

See I'm so glad you 2 said that. Lol.

Itinerary at the moment would be...

Friday 6pm: Leave home and drive 4 hours to hotel in Birmingham (this means no one takes time off work, could possibly take afternoon off and leave then)
    Friday night: Stay in hotel
Saturday: Drive an hour to Alton towers and have day there. At end drive back to hotel to freshen up and walk to restaurant next door to hotel.
Saturday eve: Enjoy a meal and relaxed drinks
    Saturday night: Stay in hotel
Sunday: Visit shopping centre on way home (possibly cribbs or Merry Hill so we can relax) and then come home :)

Might be worth considering somewhere like this http://www.hoseasons.co.uk/webpages/WWApartment/ProductDetailPage.aspx?ISDLNK=1&SCODE=DERB&TINDEXPD=0 if you are interested in all staying together? it allows self-catering and they're not particularly expensive.

i agree that alton towers sounds more fun xxx

There are quite a lot of BOGOF deals for Alton Towers tickets at the mo too - or could you exchange some clubcard vouchers for tickets? Would that make it cheaper?
I have to say that if it was me - I'd rather have a proper girly day at Alton Towers with the girls than worrying about losing my dignity in a ball pool (!!!!!)- but you know yourself and your friends better than I do. :o)
Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??

  • Im going to alton towers for my hen party and I will be collecting the BOGOF to save us all some dosh. I live an hour away from alton towers and go about once and year so I dont think your hen party has to be something you've never done/never will do again, I plan to spend it with all my gals and have the best time. Hope you have a fab time on yours!

Hellokitty found some lodges near alton towers so you could all stay together and have a girly night after alton towers? The prices were pretty reasonable but I'm not sure what they were

http://www.theramshornestate.co.uk/alton-towers-lodges-wootton.html - these are the lodges, I'm sure there'll be plenty more in the area. I'm just thinking with travel lodges being very basic you have no facilities to chill drinks and things so something self catering may be better?
Also, end of October is usually half term, try and avoid going then or you risk mega ques! (but they do have some good entertainment on)
