LPG or Phoenix gas for fire only?

My mum is getting a gas fire installed, she has ofch and doesn't know whether or not to get phoenix gas or go for LPG cylinders. I have the LPG myself and would prefer to have a gas meter, but refuse to pay a fortune to get one installed. Anyone have any advise on this? Phoenix gas website advertises free connection to a gas meter, but what does this mean exactly, I take it this is not the same as free installation? how much would installation for gas fire only cost? thanks in advance
