ISA post-bankruptcy

Hi all,

I'm now nearly a week into life post-bankruptcy :). With my finances under much better control and a new job looming, I needed to get my long-term savings sorted out.

I was after a self-select stocks & shares ISA. Nothing fancy and not much going in, but you have to start somewhere.

My first choice was interactive investor (iii.co.uk), who have small minimum investment amounts, which is quite handy (£20 in most cases). Unfortunately, after getting through the online application process, I got a polite letter telling me to sod off ('after carrying out a credit check etc, etc...)

More success was had with Hargreaves & Lansdown and my ISA is now set up, along with my regular savings plan. They did in fact confirm to me by email a month or so ago that they didn't discriminate against discharged bankrupts, so I was fairly confident. Still, it's nice to get it all done.

Just thought I'd fill you all in so you know where to go hunting if you ever need one.

All the best,

WS
