Newbie Amazon Challenge

Hi All
Any Newbies want to have a go at an Amazon Challenge?
I have only recently discovered Amazon and have just made my first sale (woo hoo) so wondered if any other newbies who've seen the other challenges happening but have never joined in would like to have a go?
If we keep track in our signatures, it'll be easy enough to follow!
Who's up for it then?

Good idea - you will be surprised at what sells.
I'd join you but I've already Amazoned most of my collection and seemed to sell what people want (if that makes any sense at all).
Advise I would give you though is:
Dont forget to take account of postage costs - if you are selling heavy textbooks try and find another way to post other than Royal Mail because what I thought was a cracking sale only gave me a couple of quid profit after fees/postage.
Try and minimize packaging costs - be innovative if needed. I have received and sent books wrapped securely in a strong bin bag - cheaper than buying cardboard packaging etc.The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -
Great idea, I've made a few hundred selling on amazon, hence I won't be joining the challenge as have nothing left to sell!

I'm tempted, I've got 1 cookery book for sale at the moment. What sells well?0

In my experience anything in the top 100 books will sell relatively quickly (within a few days if at a low price) - but you will not make a huge margin on it because everyone is listing so the supply/demand ratio pushes the prices lower.
If you can hold out for the better prices then list self-help books as most of minesold.
If you look on the amazon sellers board here they may have more advice.
No idea on cookery books I'm afraid.
The sales I was surprised on were university textbook sales in June - so may be worth listing any anybody has lying around (but see my points above on postage as the margin may be negligible) and probably best to state the edition if the ISBN doesnt pick it up.The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -
