sample bailiff letter

Hello All
Not really sure where I should post this.
I have received many letters from a Court Appointed bailiff regarding a debt which belongs to someone who no longer lives at this address. They have been to the house, but on both occasions I have not been in so have not met them. I have spoken to the bailiff concerned several times on the phone and on the last occasion he took the forwarding address and phone number of the person he is looking for. However, since giving him the address I have received two further letters chasing the debt and threatening to remove goods.
I have been to citizen advice this morning and their advice is
a) I shouldn't be opening other peoples mail
b) that I put it writing that they have the wrong address for this person and if they continue to send letters and bailiffs to my address I'm going to seek help from OFT.
Just wondered if anyone has any sample letters that would suit this?? I'm rubbish at writing letters and I can't seem to find the right words.
TIA

a) CAB are wrong, its a common misconception you cant open other peoples mail, it is only an offence to open mail if it is to the receiptments detriment. You are already aware of the bailiff and it is causing you issues, therefore it is not to their detriment and the mail does actually relate to an issue affecting you. However, you probably should start putting on the forwarding address as you do have one.
Correct, you do need to do a written letter. We don't have any samples for this however as it doesn't really matter how you word it (Not your debt after all), just keep it polite, and state you have made several telephone calls concerning this debt, it does not belong to you and the previous tenant has moved away. You have provided a forwarding address "xxxx" yet still you continue to send letters to this address threatening to visit and remove goods.
As such state you are aware of the law on this matter, and as such remind them that they cannot levy goods that do not belong to the debtor, any goods removed from the property would therefore be theft, and any attempt to force entry would be reported to the police.
Furthermore add in you have provided proof previous and have done so again in the letter *see copied tenancy agreement/mortgage statement etc.
If you recieve any further contact regarding this matter other than it has been addressed and you will not receive any further letters or visits you will have no choice but to inform the office for fair trading to perform an investigation into their business practices as you have done all that is required yet have still being receiving threats to remove goods.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

Thanks for your reply DarkConvict, I've already sent a letter recorded delivery which pretty much said what you have advised ... I'm hoping that will be enough to settle the matter once and for all 'cos I'm starting to loose patience with feeling harassed all the time.
thanks for taking the time and trouble to answer though.0
