Selling clothes on Ebay

I've never really used Ebay but it just seems dodgy from an outside perspective.
I've got some clothes I could do with getting rid of, but who the heck would want to buy my clothes?? I've heard it's done though ... I know I wouldn't buy clothes from someone on Ebay
Some of my clothes are in fine condition but I bought them too big and are of no use now - is it worth bothering??
Cheers ma beers.

Clothes are not always good sellers on ebay unless they are a good label, and even then you might be getting back a tiny percentage of what you originally paid. Ebay fees can be high as well, as are paypal fees so you need to do a bit of research on what sells and what is the best time to list. You can also check completed listings to see what has sold well in the past.
I would also re assure you that ebay and paypal are mostly harmless , but you must know what you are doing. The people who have problems tend to be the ones that rush in blindly and don't bother to read any of the stay safe type of advice.
There is a dedicated ebay board for further info (see my sig)I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. My sister has sold a few things on ebay - you dont get very much back - only a couple of quid. The best sellers tend to be bags and shoes or designer goods, you get more money if they are still in the box or have labels, if they have never or hardly been worn.
She's had most success with holiday clothes i.e. summer dresses and sarongs/kaftans. Also wedding shoes/bags that she's worn once and never again, or party type evening bags (again for school prom & wedding season). Most people have been honest & geniune but she did have one problem with an overseas buyer who debated the size and left bad feedback. Since then she now puts the phrase "labelled as size X" and also gives measurements i.e. length approx 28" from neckline to bottom hem. She usually puts something in there along the lines of "please check measurements and sizing before committing to purchase".
She usually averages about £3-£4 per item depending on what it is and the condition. It helps if you're an unusual size (she's really tall so buys longer length things).
I sell little bits of home-made jewellery (went on a little hobby course and sell any extra's I dont use as gifts for friends). I always put that I will accept returns. but only if it is returned in original re-sellable condition and with the packaging (I put them in little drawstring bags). I also say that postage costs cannot be refunded and that they would have to pay for return postage. This usually puts off any non-genuine people. I also only do this on the necklaces & bracelets...NOT earrings because of hygiene.
If you're going to throw them out anyway put them on for 99p start as at the minute most things under £1 have no listing fee. If you weigh them on the kitchen scales and check the cost of postage on royal mail's website there's a poster guide on their website ftp://ftp.royalmail.com/Downloads/public/ctf/rm/Tariff_Poster_UK_2010.pdf
If they dont sell, then just take them to a charity shop or car boot sale - then at least you've tried to find another use for them.0 -
U could also join Freegle and put them on there. U won't get any money for them but its a lot less hassle. I had masses of good quality good label children's clothes that I chose to give away thru freegle rather than list on ebay because what I'd have been given for them on ebay would probably have barely covered the fee's and it would have taken a lot of time taking photo's, listing them etc.0

I have sold clothes on ebay before.
If they are in good condition but just from shop such as Newlook, Primark, Dorethy Perkins etc as they are cheap to start with people won't pay a lot. So I would just put them all in a bundle. and call it "Bundle Size 10 / 12 clothes" or whatever. Then I take individual photos of them all which I add to the listin (using photobucket) so I am not paying extra for listing them seperate. If the starting price is 0.99 it is free to list.
I normally have about 10 items and always make over £20. Which I think is good for junk I would have thrown out.
I have sold many surfer brand items, Roxy, RipCurl, Animal etc for between £7 to £15 for one item.
I think it is just luck and if someone likes your item. For example I put two dresses on last week. one cost me £29.99 brand new and I only worn it twice and it sold for £25. Then one cost me £60 brand new and only sold for £15. Its just pot luck sometimes.

i think it depends on the size of clothes aswell.i am plus size and shops charge a fortune, especially evans, ann harvey.i pounce on anything with those labels at 99p even if not my size as couple of family members big birds aswell. i sell, havent for ages though, and usually find the4 bigger size the better.i have lost a load of weight and sold stuff i didnt want to grow back into:D.got quite good money,a top i paid £7 for in evans sale went for 20 quid.dont list to end in the day midweek, thats when i pick my bargains up.sunday afternoon/evening is sooo much better, really busy.i dont really buy much as the bids go higher but i list my stuff to end then.Shine on you crazy diamond..............0
