Hi,

I have seen certain posts of different people, who I am very similar. I am 25 and got myself in to some trouble (i.e. let my ex girlfriend have access to my bank account).

I owe around £4675 to about 6 different parties.

One is Newlyn whom I owe £746 and they are threating to come to parents house and start taking goods on the 23rd of this month.

I have applied for credit cards and loans and all been rejected even tho for last 3 years have had a solid wage going in to my account of over £1300 a month I still cant get one.

I applied to a guranteed loan company yesterday and had to pay £49.50 admin fee and should have the paper work at home but am scepticle it will go through for a loan £3500.

I know I could pay these all off monthly but got myself into a state where they all want paying now and not the minimal ammounts.

I am in desperate need of some help to get a loan of anything between £3000 and £4000. I am willing to pay for advice that secures me this as I am really at a loose end where it is effecting my life dramatically.

I would be most grateful to any comments or info anyone could provide.

Thanks

    Hi and welcome

You probably won't get a loan for the £49.50 admin fee - or they'll come back and offer you a few hundred quid at a few hundred percent APR.

Right the newlyn debt - what was it for? I think they are baliffs not DCAs - is that right? if so you must have a CCJ presumably? when did you get the CCJ? did you respond to the court papers at all?

You live with your parents I presume? have newlyn been to the house already? did anybody let them in? do your folks know about your debts?

You don't need a loan and with at least 1 CCJ you won't get one.
What you need to do is come to an arrangement to start paying your creditors back - this will almost certainly be cheaper than getting any new debt.

Your creditors may not want minimal amounts but they can't have what you don't have.

Don't want to inundate you with more questions on this first reply but don't panic there will be a solution for you.

Can you list all your creditors? who they are, what you owe and what the debt was for originally?

Are you working? how much do you earn? how much can you afford in total to pay towards your debts each month? If you don't know then you need to do a statement of affairs http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html so we can see your full position and what outgoings you have.

Tixy is spot on, a loan will only get you in more trouble as with a bad record not only can you not get one but anything you do get will cost a fortune in interest.

I doubt you will get anything, many people who goto brokers and pay a fee are simply told they couldn't find one, its in the MSE guides about it.

Your best bet is to setup a payment plan with the bailiffs if it has gotten that far down the line. Were you aware of the CCJ, did you attend the hearing.

If you choose not to attend, you will have to deal with the bailiffs, same goes for if you did attend but missed the set payments. If however you were unaware of the CCJ you can have it set aside for £75 and basically a CCJ is granted to make you pay a monthly figure you can afford.

Hi thank you for replying so quick, I really dont know what I am going to do.

Newlyn is a baliff's, i was paying them £40 a month but my bank card got cloned and all transactions frozen and Newlyn wont accept this. They are now demanding full payment and wont set up another agreement. They have said over the phone that if the money is not received by the 23rd Baliff fees will occur etc and they will be coming to my parents house.

    I owe:

    Private: £1,052.00
    Private: £1,060.00
    Newlyn: £746.98
Arc: £285.00 (£40 a month arrangement in place)
    O2: £776.70
Orange: £542.00 (Not chasing me for payment)
Family: £300 (Not chasing me for payment)

Private is from two different people who I had an agreement with to pay back £400 a month and they dont want no less.

I am working and earn £1,310.00
I pay £300 rent, £182 travel their my main outgoings.

I really dont know what to do as I need a quick some of cash to pay off for this month at least nearly £2000.

I really appreciate all your help and am so grateful. If the baliff's go to my house I will probably end up homeless.

If you can't get a loan now, it's unlikely you'll ever get one until the debts are dealt with. If you do manage to get one it'll have an astronomical APR and that's just counter-productive.

There really is no point robbing Peter to pay Paul in your situation because it'll never go away. At the end of the day they can't take what you don't have.

Could you not have paid Newlyns by standing order, did you notify them before the payment was due out?

Since you failed to pay the £40 CCJ amount they can issue bailiffs, and this will incur more charges, about £42 if you do not let them in, £100's if you do let them in. The bailiffs will levy a car parked on the driveway or nearby and if you do not own it you will need to get the levy removed yourself. If you do own a car keep it parked on another road.

You will just have to insist with the bailiffs that you will make the £40 payments, have you considered getting proof from the bank the card was cloned?

    Hi

Are you paying the 2 private debts £400 each or £400 between them?

Do your parents have any idea about your debts? (even if they don't know how bad it is?) might they be able to give you some breathing space with regards to your rent?

How many of the £40s have you missed with newlyns. I would suggest you try again to get them to accept a repayment plan. Have you got anything you could sell to raise some quick cash at all? If you could get £80 or £100 in cash it might be worth going to newlyns offices to offer to pay that and ask to reinstate the repayment. You could even say that as it is your parents house there is no point them coming around as you don't own anything in the house aside from your personal possessions clothes etc. They are not allowed to take your parents posessions, and they are not allowed to take your clothes etc. If allowed in to levy your goods then they could take things that you own such as a computer, TV, hi-fi, phone etc but maybe in their office you could tell them you had sold anything you owned to try to raise the money.
If you are actually in front of them with cash in hand they may be more willing to accept it. It would seem to me your best chance of them not calling at the door, which as DC says will incur extra charges, but I guess more worrying for you is that your folks would know.

If you can't get them to come to an agreement then I really think you are going to need to tell your parents the situation and warn them about the baliffs. I know it won't be easy to tell them but I'm certain they would rather hear it from you than finding out when the baliffs knock. You'll just have to admit that you messed up and you were coping with paying it back until you had the problem with your bank card. If they come then you really need for them not to be allowed into the house, best not to even answer the door to them. As I said they cannot take your parents possessions but they can take anything you own.

Aside from the immediate problem with newlyn then you will still be struggling anyway from what you have posted. But you really won't find anywhere that will give you a loan in your position. Can you do any overtime at work? Any chance of getting a second job (something like bar work evening/weekends)? Do you know anyone who you could help out at the weekends to earn some cash (something like working as a labourer for a builder/gardener or anything like that?)

Yup, trying to get a loan at an astronomical APR and shelling out hunderds per month every month in interest for a long time in order to avoid a one off £42 baliff fee doesn't seem a sensible plan.
  • The private one's are £400 each....

I live with just my dad, he is registered diasbled and is not in a position at all to help me at all. He is a very old fashioned sort of person so the debt collectors coming to the door will put him into a rage.

I have sold anything I can par my tv and car which I am massively considering as this is a real bad mess I am in and have no idea of how I can get out of it. I have no one to borrow money off at all hence the cry out for a loan. If i could just get one monthly payment i would not mind the higher interest rate as that would be something I would have to deal with as I got myself in this mess.

I spoke with the company who said "I am guaranteed a loan 100% (£49.50) this morning said that the loan is all in place, at £3500, £317 a month repayments for 12 months. All i have to do is return the paper work when i get it (should be today) and then within 3 days the loan will be processed.

I near on begged Newlyn on the phone and just basically told me where to do one, even tho I have never missed a payment. I paid them a £190 to show I am paying two days ago so it is now down to £556.98 but still they wont budge. Proper harsh company!!

I have applied to loads of bars and even tried getting some weekend work with mates etc doing plumbing/labouring but nothing about.

I dont own no jewllery otherwise that would all be sold.

I reall am in a mess here and cant see no way of this getting better for me.

Thanks for your posts really do appreciate this massively!!!!
