Yeah!! That was my personal fave too.:)
Don't think it'll get off the ground though, it's bound to be offensive to someone. Like, "guests" on Jeremy Kyle, who can't read.....or wash......or wear "grown up" clothes maybe. But there is one bonus.......they can share the books with their numerous offspring as they all learn to read together. And why o'why do they all refuse to visit the detists??? Unless it's a gang "trademark" thing, or "badge of honour". Whatever....It's most definitely NOT a good look.
Glad you liked it, i might just become your FB fan.;)0 -
Funny you should say that actually as I am rather lacking on Facebook fans; I write songs and my MySpace is doing brilliantly but I can't quite crack the Facebook thing, mainly due to lack of motivation more than anything.
I don't know why they insist on having people with such bad teeth on Jeremy Kyle! I have an American friend who says that most Americans believe ALL Brits have terrible teeth, so I fear that any Americans watching JK will not only feel their theory is proven, but also perceive the guests as an accurate representation of what Brits are like.....yet what's interesting is that I don't know anyone who's like the people who go on JK, nor do anyone I know! Anyone on here know of any guests?Never argue with an idiot; they'll bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.0 -

Try and keep away from a name associated with Usborne. You may choose to sell other books too in the future!!Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0 -
Sacha, don't worry about how the Americans perceive us. If their confrontational "chat" shows are an acurate representation of their populace then they've a lot more to worry about than bad teeth.
I've also heard that they see us all as dentist dodgers but i think it is more to do with their compulsive obsession with having "Movie Star" teeth. Like their foreign affair policies, it's both unrealistic and incedibely vain.
But i think we are detracting from the initial request of help from Mishka, and that we've hijacked her thread somewhat.
Mishka, apologies my dear.
Sacha, if you'd like to PM me your Facebook details then i shall endeavour to add my name to your list of freinds (or "fans" if you like)
And you both have rather endearing and most charming names.

Hello
I signed up to Usborne just before xmas and have not done too good in sales at all. I have only just made £100+
I've stopped now for two months but feel like giving it a go again, one reason because i've just moved house and area so i'm hoping i'll have better luck - fingers crossed.
I didnt have a name (only my own) and just tried (without any luck) parties.
Does anyone have any tips??0 -

Can you do that thing where you go round offices and leave a handful of sample books there for a few days and then go back to collect the orders? I don't know if that would suit your business plan, I mean whether you have enough books to allow you to leave a few in an office - but I do know people who don't usually buy books will buy if they are right under their noses on the reception desk.
I would also try to get into places like mother and toddler groups, Tumble Tots, nurseries, etc.0 -
books4kiddies
kiddiesbooks
quite generic but catchy i think.
Are you thinking of using a website to sell these books? If some think about using a keyword domain as this could help you rank easier than not using keywords in the domain. Depends if you are trying to build a brand or make money. Building a brand on selling someone elses books isn't a necessity IMO.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Hello
Yeah I tried displaying a selection of books in the canteen at work but because the book people also sell in there I had no chance really.
I'm hoping that this new area will bring me good luck, i've got to find out where the local schools / toddler groups are in the area and be brave and approach some of them.
How do you all get parties ? I have put messages up on local forums online and also little posters in supermarkets but have had no luck :-(
I really want to get this business going but just need some more ideas0
