Is a Loan or Credit Card the safest?!

I'm 18 years old and i live by myself. Im going to university in september and have taken out a student loan. I would like to have my own car before i go so that i can travel back home at the weekend to see my friends. I need around £3000 to cover the cost of the car and the insurance. Will a loan be more suitable or a credit card? I would expect to pay back roughly £100 a month. Who would i go with, i've been shopping around and Sainsburies appears to be the best for a loan. Please can you help im desperate!

you don't need a car
stay at uni at weekends and make new friends... it's part of the fun of being at uni
unless you have a proper job with a proper income it's most unlikely that anyone will lend you 3k or give you a CC with such a large limit.0 -
Or if you do need a car buy one for £400 or so. To pay for 1 years insurance on a loan over 3+years is crazy, how would you afford the insurance the next year. How will you afford the tax, maintenance, servicing, tyres, petrol etc that you would need?
When you want to come home to see your friends look for deals on megabus and other public transport.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
cars and uni just dont mix, apart from the financial side there is NEVER anywhere to park !0
