School then have to pay Royal Mail over a quid per application to have it re-sent.
This means that the application arrives after the deadline.
Not the best start really, either pay correct postage (ie large letter rate) or hand deliver to ensure it arrives on time.
Im surprised you pay?0 -

I suppose you could also argue that any company that paid only minimum wage didn't value its employees very highly either. I find it quite annoying when employers offer graduate positions and only want to pay the bare legal minimum. Clearly A levels and 3 years of undergraduate study is worthless to them so why are they even asking for graduates?!0 -
One of my faves was an applicant who went over the 5mins of her presentation, when I asked her to sum up 2 mins over, she had the gall to hold her hand out 'stop sign', and ask me not to interupt her flow!
Then spent the interview chewing gum and not answering the question. For some reason, she could not understand why did not get the job and kept calling me back for feedback. She then wrote me aranting email accusing me of not giving her a fair go and deciding before she entered the room she wasn't going to get the job."This is a forum - not a support group. We do not "owe" anyone unconditional acceptance of their opinions."0 -
:rotfl: Do people not realise that the moment they do something like that, you are just SOOO grateful you didn't appoint them?LondonDiva wrote: »One of my faves was an applicant who went over the 5mins of her presentation, when I asked her to sum up 2 mins over, she had the gall to hold her hand out 'stop sign', and ask me not to interupt her flow!

Then there's the person who phoned to ask why she hadn't been shortlisted TWO MONTHS after the event. As it happened, I was able to tell her that we'd asked for a particular qualification, which she didn't appear to have, but TWO MONTHS?
The flip side of that is when I applied for a position that I had given up on as I had no response..............until.......
10 weeks after the closing date, I recieved notification to attend an interview.0 -

Charming.
I had to bite my lip quite hard to prevent myself from asking him how he would feel if I'd been unable to attend the interview and not bothered to let him know.
I recently attended a second interview and was told that I would be informed of the companies decision by phone at the end of the day.
Nobody contacted me so I assumed I had been unsuccessful - however, after 3 days of silence, I went to their website to obtain the appropriate contact for feedback only to discover the job had been readvertised...nice!
The second interview was only between myself and another candidate so it would hardly have been time consuming to contact both of us to inform us we both had been unsuccessful.
I have no issues in the fact that I was not the appropriate candidate, but to discover that you did not get a position after a second interview by seeing the same position readvertised was a bit galling.0 -

You know what I'd do for a laugh? Make up a similar CV to the one that got you an interview last time (changing key details and dates around for a bit of munging) and reapply with a spoof name.
If you are offered an interview try and push late in the day. Ring them telling them you are delayed but on your way. Repeat this for a few hours until they lose their rag and hang up. :rotfl:
Methinks it would be worth setting up a website/database where candidates can blacklist recruiters based on experience (such as failing to notify/secure personal data/advertising jobs that don't exist etc). Perhaps a winter project......0 -
What got to me was when people would say we'll let you know by XX, when what they really meant was we'll let the successful person know by XX and ignore everybody else until the successful person has accepted and we can give you all the shove.
My husband was interviewed 3 times for a job in Stevenage when we lived in Bristol, having to take 3 different days off work to go there. They never even had the decency to contact him to say he wasn't successful in the end. On another occasion an interview was arranged by an agency, he turned up for the interview only to find the company knew nothing about the interview....... Another wasted day.
