b & q have a big one in at the momment called the winchester for £100. Try to buy a gas bbq with 2 burners and a hood, this way you can roast slowly and keep things warm if you only light one side. And try and get hickory chips which add taste when cooking.
  • I personally won't buy another gas bbq. I have a big yanky one and have ditched it for a charcoal kettle bbq, tastes far better. What is the point of cooking on gas outside?? Isn't the cooker inside the same?

The barbecue flavour stems from food juices hitting a hot surface and it doesn’t matter whether the surface is lava rock or traditional charcoal. If your indoor gas cooker indoors does this, I want one. What make is it?

I agree. Having tried both I wouldn't consider a gas bbq again. I find the charcoal ones with the closing lid (particularly the barrel shaped ones) are really easy to use and give the right smells and tastes for a BBQ.

Get the coals well advanced, put the meat onto it and then close the lid. Adjust the airflow so that there is plenty of cooking but no 'flaring' and just sit back and wait.
