Edinburgh Parking

Hi
can anyone help with where to park for the day. Will be coming from visiting Brittania late morning and need to leave it until after concert at the castle so guessing around 10.30 to 11pm.

So anywhere between those 2 places would be good.

I've not taken a car into central Edinburgh for the last 3 years or so because of all the upheval with the roads and the rip-off, over-enforced (often illegally) parking. Park outside the centre and bus/train it.

It depends whether it's during the week or at the weekend. Central parking zones 1-4 operate Mon-Sat 8.30am-6.30pm, outer parking zones (5-8 and the newer ones which are all labelled N or S with a number) are Mon-Fri 8.30am-5.30pm.

Assuming you're there on Saturday, you should be able to park anywhere north of Heriot Row without a problem - you might need to drive around a bit to find a space but you shouldn't be charged.

Depending where your coming from will dictate which Park n Ride you use, but Edinburgh, unless you park in a residential area just out of the city centre, is a 24/7 pain.

Leave the car somewhere near Britannia and get the bus up from Leith Walk. Plenty of buses run back and there are Night Buses throughout the, erm, night.

The car park at Ocean Teminal where Brittania is docked is multi storey and free. I expect it remains open through the night or at least til late as there is the patrons to the Vue cinema to cater for. Would park near to the cinema entrance so the car is not the only one in the area late.

There is free on street parking on the main drag at Commercial Street, Edinburgh, just along from Ocean Terminal too.
