Claim from BCW of a debt which never existed!

Hello all,
Today my fiance received a letter from Buchanen Clark & Wells claiming it was a Formal Demand of £287.87, and that they had been instructed by Arrow Global Ltd to recover the overdue debt. And that the creditor was Orange.
They stated over the phone that this debt was from when he lived at his parents address, though the man on the phone was not sure if it was 2007 or 2005. My fiance did not live at the aforementioned address during either of these years.
He once had an orange contract at a different address and paid any outstanding money off but this was around 8 years ago and no longer has any paper work due to how long ago it was.
At the address bcw are claiming from, he had an orange pay and go and therefore didn't owe them anything. He has phoned orange this evening twice to clarify, they have no record of any debt and only have his name and his parents address on their system, this it. and they have said that they only use Moorcroft (reputable) debt collection agency.
He has never received communication from Orange or Arrow Global claiming that he owes anything.
I have no idea how to proceed with this. If anyone could give advice or help on this it would be gratefully appreciated! We've read a lot about how dodgy, and rude BCW are and would like to avoid this as much as possible as we have to much stress in our lives as it is!
Thank you for reading and any help would be great!

BCW are a bunch of chancers from what I gather on here. Send them this letter...

(With thanks, as always, to the legendary Niddy
)
And stop worrying!
Chances are, they are just fishing for someone to hang the debt on. Let us know if they come back with anything else.
ps, "sign digitally" just means don't sign your name, just type it at the end of the letter."I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -
Thank you we shall try this tomorrow!0
