Help...where to shop? Any tips?

Right, i am moving in with my boyfriend and it's the first time i have lived with a partner. We has so much new stuff to get that my head is spinning. I want cheap/reasonable priced stuff. I am yet to but a dinner set, kitchen ware, lamps, bedding, a large rug for the wooden floor (which are so expensive!!) etc etc. If anyone has any suggestions of websites/shops i can go to then any ideas are welcome. I like old fashioned styled things- french boudoir and vintage style things.

Thanks for any help :)

Look up auctions in your Yellow Pages and take a look at the viewing day. It's just amazing what is available and going at very reasonable prices.
I could have wept when my daughter paid £1500 for a higly glazed veneered table that was basically MDF.
(I have since had to replace the covers on the chairs because the chipboard seats broke in the middle - in fairness she has had them for
8yrs) I have seen lovely real wood dining sets for low hundreds £ at the auctions.
They are even likely to have french boudoir and vintage style things - you never know!!

I agree with Browntoa, IKEA has basic kitchen starter kits.

As for vintage-y items... I'm not good at getting that look right, but all that came to mind were Cath Kidson and Urban Outfitters. Both have sales at the moment and they both have online-stores too with homeware sections.

Cath Kidson for your florals and Urban Outfitters for quirky stuff.

I'd third that- its also very convenient- one shop rather then several little ones, one (huge) queue rather then lots of smaller ones. You can get stuff delivered after your shop but the smaller items they wont deliver on (even if you have bought a bed, a sofabed, a desk...at the same time, they wont deliver the chair...). Delivery can be pricey though and mine was unreliable -though this was several years ago, so if you can I'd suggest renting a van or a white-van-man.

Freecycle and Ebay are also worth a look and at the moment with the sales on places like Habitat, TKMaxx and (eventually) M&S can be noce for the finishing touches, just wait 'till they say 'Final Reductions' before shopping.
