Dunno, I'm 22, height is 5ft5. I'm unsure of my weight but its starting to gather round my tummy. Its not shifting very easily BUT I have had a baby so this may be why (if its not then well, im keeping it as my excuse!!!)0

Hello Margaret Clare we meet again on a weight loss thread! How's it going? Is that 5 kg so far in 2010, has your plateau ended?0

I'm 10 years older, same height, weigh the same as you ... I don't do any exercise and I do love to scoff junk food, chocolate biscuits, crisps and sweeties.
Some of it is luck.
Some of it is perception about how much you're actually eating.
Do you rigidly count your calories to see how many you are tucking away?0 -

I do sometimes:o but then again I have stopped eating alot of sugary food such homemade cakes, I went through a phase of baking and eating a tray of choc brownies in 2 days, one of the problems of living alone no one to readily share, but thats not and excuse to stuff ones face!
I did try the 1000 a day calorie diet which is hard! but food suggested was ok had poached egg on toast for breakfast then fruit later lunch.. umm forget what that was but nothing naughty:o may of missed that altogether, then baked chicken breast with small amount of olive oil and loads of veg plus mash.
I think its going to be a case of slowly does it as I sweat buckets!0 -
Hi,
The way I understand it,as we get older we lose muscle mass, which means we burn less calories. One way to counteract this is to play sports/exercise regularly. You have to find something you enjoy, otherwise you won't stick at it.(I love running).
I also have read that to lose 1lb you need to eat 3500 less calories!(I've read this in several books).Slow weight loss is fine.Losing a pound is better than gaining a pound!
You might find that,as time goes by,your weight might not change, but your shape will.I don't know about you but I'd rather be the same weight I am,but toned rather than weigh less and be flabby.:D
Personally,I don't believe in dieting, but rather eating healthily and in moderation.
Hope this helps, don't be too discouraged.0
