Has anyone experienced any of the following side effects on this coil?

Dizzy spells
Higher levels of potassium
breakthrough bleeding
Lighter and shorter periods

I am not asking for medical advice I have had that already:)

Yes to a couple of these. I had one fitted in December and am having a bit of a mare with it. Constant breakthrough bleeding is driving me scranny after 7 months of it nearly (the reason i came off the mini pill was because of this and I chose the copper coil over the Mirena coil because i knew the hormones in the Mirena can cause this problem.) I also have mild dizzy spells. My periods are very heavy and more prolonged though, so am struggling to find the upside to this method of contraception though i have to say, it works, not pregnant :D Oh and can i add the 4 bouts of thrush i have had since it was fitted, not normal for me.

My doctor says that breakthrough bleeding is very rare apparently with this type of coil. Thought it was just me. Think it is going to have to go soon though :o

Yes the doctor did look at me as if I was mad when I discussed the side effects I keep having. Mine has been fitted for 3 years and it is only the last 6 months or so that I have had problems.

Problem is I suffer from PMS so I don't really want to take the pill with hormones added as I will be like a lunatic:o, maybe its time to send hubby in for the snip:eek::rotfl:

My ex had the snip...was great. My OH now won't go near the idea so I'm on the Mirena. When he makes comment on my weight gain I point out the surgical alternative for him and he shuts up :rotfl:
