Remember you silver sixpence in your shoe
From wikipedia
Something old,
something new,
something borrowed,
something blue
and a sixpence in her shoe.
The old item provided protection for the baby to come. The item borrowed from another happy bride provided good luck. The colour blue was a sign of fidelity. The sixpence — a silver British coin — was a symbol of prosperity or acted as a ward against evil done by frustrated suitors. The superstition is known since 1883 when it was attributed to the county of Lancashire
For my first wedding I did this
old - my pearls (got them for my 21st)
new - my dress
borrowed - hoop underskirt for dress
blue - my mums blue garter
My second wedding (my first husband died)
old - my bracelet
new - necklace
borrowed - bag from my sister
blue - my mums blue garter
Each time I had a sixpence in my shoe my dad gave me.
Hope you have a lovely day
