NHS Dentists

Hi all,

I hope I'm posting in the right place.Apoligies If I'm not.

Hopefully this will help someone.I was in desperate need of an NHS dentist.I've paid 1000s in private dentist bills (hence why I have had large cc bills)

I've come across with site this morning and if you put in your postcode it will come up with anyone who's taking on nhs patients in your area. They do a search every month.Or you could call the helpline.I have found two in my area! and My first appointment is on Monday.Hopefully it may help anyone who has had to fork out as much as I have done in the past.

Jenn x

Any chance of the website address? I have been looking for ages!! thanks
  • mmm....

    This Dental Practice is

NOT Currently Accepting New Fee Paying NHS Patients
NOT Accepting New Charge Exempt Adults for NHS Treatment
NOT Accepting New Children Aged 0-18 years for NHS Treatment
DOES NOT Provide Urgent Dental Access Slots

Does that mean they won't take me on?

Have found 1 dentist, that is accepting new nhs patients, that my g/f also goes to, it's 10 miles away from me, but I only go twice a year, so I will give them a ring. Thanks Fuffa.
  • Hasn't everybody got a right to an NHS dentist?
  • Hasn't everybody got a right to an NHS dentist?

Yes, but there's no guideline as to how close the NHS dentist must be to your house.
An NHS dentist could be 100 miles away...

Local to me (20 miles), I am unable to find one. The ones who are taking NHS patients refuse me for not living in the town where they are based, despite my town not having one.

I absolutely deplore having to pay NI contributions for other peoples NHS dentists when I cannot have one myself.
  • A friend of mine organises trips to Greece for affordable dental care.
Seems to me quite ridiculous that you can pay for non NHS dental work & include a holiday and its still less than you can pay for major work here.
....another happy bug.........sorry,blogger embracing the simple life
  • How can I tell if a dentist coming up is accepting NHS patients?
  • Can you get periodental treatment on the NHS?
  • lol, typed in my postcode & NO dentists in my area are accepting NHS patients at this time. Its rediculous round here, I looked into it before & the nearest one taking patients is about an hours drive away.

If have discovered though, that by registering me & hubby at a private dentist, they will see our children as NHS patients.

Is there a similar serach for Scotland? I live in Fife but still have to travel 600 miles down to Cornwall to see my dentist!
I have the mind of a criminal genius. I keep it in the freezer next to Mother....
