Natural Cosmetic Ranges

I need to replace my foundation and powder, and I've become concerned with using environmentally friendly products without large numbers of synthetic ingredients. It's easy enough to find toiletries that are suitable, and mostly I use Lush stuff, but it seems much harder to find cosmetics. If possible I'd prefer to avoid applying synthetic products to my skin everyday, and I know that it's probably an unjustified reaction, but I'm concerned about the eventual effects of makeup being absorbed through my skin every day for years!
I'd also like to support companies that have a good ethical record when it comes to animal testing and environmental impact, and as many of the large brands are owned by multinationals like L'Oreal etc I don't know who's ok and who I should avoid. I don't mind spending a bit of money here as it works out better in the long run to buy something that suits me than have to replace something cheap; and as I'm quite pale and prone to blushing (typical English rose colouring) a wide range of colours is essential.
Sorry, I know this is a long shot, but can anyone advise?

Lush has a new sister company called B Never Too Busy to Be Beautiful, who do cosmetics. Not animal tested and pretty natural. The B Gone cleanser is fab.

If you look at the It's Not Easy Being Green website there's a lot of discussion about ethical beauty products. You might get a lot of info from there.0
