When do the calls start?

I have had my phone "appointment" with the CCCS counsellor and things are even worse than I thought - I have £4 left each month to share amongst my 11 creditors! I was advised to send off letters to my 11 creditors (which I was emailed to use) and offer £1 to each until I am in a better financial position. I did this last Thursday enclosing £1 with each. I now feel very much in limbo waiting for the explosion of phone calls! When will these start? Will they write to me. I am really worried about huge interest being added to some of my larger credit card bills and things just escalating. Do you think most will agree to freeze the interest? Sort of feel better in a way but still concerned about what happens now! Any advice much appreciated.

Hi there. Yes, you will probably (definitely) get a barrage of phone calls and letters quite soon, but try not to despair. Do you have an answerphone? If not, try to get hold of one, it will make your life a bit easier as you learn how to deal with your creditors. As you have already contacted them regarding your debts, and you have gone down the DMP route, you do have a bit more ammunition when they call/write. Everyone on here recommends that you don't speak to creditors on the phone, they can be quite intimidating and rude, if you are a bit bewildered by the whole situation anyway, you may find yourself agreeing to pay more than you can afford and you will mess up your DMP. Start by gathering together the addresses of all of your creditors and send them the "don't phone me" letter, use this link....

There are several on there, you can edit them to suit your situation.
Remember, if they call and you speak to them, just tell them that you are dealing with CCCS and they are dealing with your debts on your behalf. You may be sent forms to sign, giving your consent for the creditors to speak to CCCS, if you do, make sure that you sign them with a different signature or get a friend to sign your name. CCCS are really helpful, I know from personal experience, that it can be a bit intense at first, keep checking on here, there's loads of help and support and you will soon find your feet. It may also help you if you post your SOA on here. We can all have a look and see if there's anywhere we can help you to free up a bit more cash:)
Don't worry about the CC's adding huge amounts of interest, if you're only paying a token payment they will soon sell the debt onto a debt collection agency who will usually be more flexible about stopping interest and charges. We can help you to deal with them too, when the time comes
Well done for seeking help, it's often the hardest step, you will soon feel more in control, I promise! :T"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -
Hi indirestraits,
As barbiedoll has already explained, use the template letter to send to all your creditors to tell them you only want to deal with them in writing. While you'll still get some calls in the short term, tell them you only want to deal with them in writing and send the letters recorded delivery to the companies.
Good luck & hope you get sorted
Bottle of RedIf you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.
