Hi everyone
Just wondered if anybody had an dealings with Cabot Financial?
I had a couple of letters from them so gave them a call as the letter didnt say what is was regarding. When i got through to them, the guy asked me to confirm my ref number and address and my date of birth.....when I said the date of birth it didnt match the one he had, but he had some of my old addresses, but one of them was not mine. He said he would speak to the investigations team and call me back, but I have heard nothing yet. Are these guys legit? Or should I be trying to find out more about it?
Thanks

They are debt collectors, they have a stack of information and try and chase the right person. It is not uncommon for them to contact the wrong people.
Are you aware of any outstanding debts that you have?

I am not aware of anything that I owe. It has been a couple of days since I have spoke to them. It just worried me as the letter said they would be calling at my home address so obviously dont want them banging at my door anytime..... Fingers crossed they have the wrong person, the DOB was completley wrong so chances are it may be someone else!0

Hi Bert
In future we would advise not to speak to debt collectors on the phone, or to give out personal information such as your DOB. It does sound like this might be the wrong person but if they have more than one of your old addresses on their records it might be worth you getting a copy of your credit file from the credit reference agencies just to check there is nothing incorrect on there (such as anybody else's address).

Thank for the advice

it has been a couple of days now and still haven't heard anything back. I am hoping that is the end of it. I might look into my credit report thought, just in case.
Thanks
