Company closed and P60

Not sure if this is in the right place so apologies if it's not...
Basically I was made redundant 8th April and have been asking for my P60 since. Today my old boss rang me up to tell me that I would not be getting a P60 as the company closed after I left and therefore there is no company to issue a P60 from. Now I know for a fact it didn't close straightaway and to be honest wouldn't be suprised if parts of it were still running now.
Is there anyway I can get my P60?

What was your leaving date on your P45?
Employer's only have to issue P60s to staff who are currently on payroll on 6th April - they might have completed your final pay early to avoid having to issue P60s0
