Shoes to wear with skirts

I've just been reassessing my wardrobe to try to reduce the need to buy more clothes. I realised that I have a load of skirts in my wardrobe that I hardly ever wear. The main reason is that I have dodgy knees and need to use orthotics or wear shoes with built in support. So it's hard to wear heels for any length of time. And I can't countenance wearing my usual laceups with a skirt since it looks too out of date even for me
Does anyone have any advice on shoes that I could wear that would look good with skirts but be reasonably comfortable (or ideally could be worn with orthotics) and that won't make me look like someone's nan? I normally go for knee length skirts slightly A line and think I have reasonably good legs but they're short alas.

ok - I am no fashion expert, but, I dont often wear skirts as I prefer trousers and flatter shoes with lots of support as I have a bad back and cannot teeter around on high heels anymore.
if the skirt is A line and has a slight flare at the hem I would look for a classic court shoe. but stay away from the thin stilleto heel.
I think a skirt looks best with a reasonable amount of foot showing so a court or mary-jane style shoe looks best.
I recently found a lovely classic black patent court shoe in a Clarks outlet - the heels were really clunky but the shoe itself was a rounded toe court shoe. they looked really nice and although the heels were about two and three quarter inch they were easy to wear as balance wasnt a problem.
(not to mention I had to wear them to a funeral and all the ladies wearing stilletoes were sinking into the grass and I wasnt).0 -
Have you looked at birkenstock shoes? I wear them with skirts and my OH's aunt wears them a lot (she needs to wear special shoes a lot because of an artificial knee but finds these lovely).
They also look very very pretty

I'm with meritaten, I think skirts look best with shoes with a slight heel (even just an inch gives the illusion of height and makes the legs look longer, particularly if you wear "open" shoes like mary janes or courts with some of the foot on show)
Clarks have lots of lovely shoes at the moment. You might be best with some with a thickish strap to offer a bit more support but that's up to you of course.
Something like these would look great! http://www.clarks.co.uk/find/department-is-women/producttype-is-shoes/heelheight-is-mid/product-is-20341267

I only wear skirts with flat shoes as I can't walk in heels. I also like my shoes abit clumpy :-)
I mainly buy shoes like these:

I also have a pair of Dr Marten T-bar buckle shoes I love and a pair of hush puppies.0 -
Oooh just browsing around, I've got some from this range but a bit older I think, I'm a student nurse so comfort is key, but they'd look nice with a skirt I reckon... they are soooooo comfy!

How about a shoe with a wedged heel
I wear very high wedges but because of the wedged heel they are really comfortable & I can walk for miles in them & they look nice with skirtsI like these:D
But obviously if too high for you or want something more casual
or
neither very high really when you see how much your foot actually tilts in the shoe

I have problems with my feet and can only wear shoes with less than one inch heels (and if I'm walking around in them all day they have to be chunky too).
Clarks has let me down over the last few years, too many daft heels. I'm a fan of Charles Clinkard and Schuh at the moment - especially Skechers, but these were my latest buy and I'm in love with them

And I also got these, but they work more with long skirts and trousers http://www.charlesclinkard.co.uk/womens-c1/shoes-c2/waterlily-sports-shoe-21437-p36620 -
There are some nice leather shoes on http://www.gluvfootwear.co.uk/ourrange.asp, and they start at £10. I have several pairs and find them very comfortable. (i generally wear Clarks).
Would these mules work with your orthotics? (They're extra wide) http://www.gluvfootwear.co.uk/productdetails.asp?productid=62&category=52&page=1&season=6The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -
depends on age and shoe preference i guess. My pelvis is knackard and i favour hush puppy balarina type shoes, birkenstock toe posts like zavvi have for £25 at the moment and a pair of flat gladiator sandles I got in tk maxx in April.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/2000

Lots of these are nice! I have ones similar to the first pair but in a grey-blue colour for a change of shade (they also look like theones at the end of page 3)!
I am 34 but have seen younger ladies/girls in their 20's wear them and also older ladies too!Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.
