Lindt "Deluxe" Chocolates - complete rip off

Hi all,
First post on the forum and I wanted to warn you of the complete rip-off that is Lindt chocolates. The certain box I'm referring to is called "Lindt Deluxe Chocolates" and is in a beige decorative box, with a lower portion featuring images of chocolates.
From the outside, the box looks quite big, and seeing it, you'd think there'd be multiple layers of chocolates inside for you to enjoy. Wrong! Upon opening the box I saw that there was only ONE layer of chocolate. Not only this, but the quality of the chocolates themselves was mediocre. While the little instruction manual that tells you of the different chocolate names and descriptions is filled with uselessly fancy Italian names, the chocolate itself did not have the wow factor at all for me.
The final insult was me seeing that below the single layer of chocolate, there was an INCH-HIGH PIECE OF PADDED CARDBOARD! This was what filled the box out and made it look as though it contained multiple layers. I can't express how annoyed I felt upon seeing this. This must be the most cynical company I've ever seen. I felt as though that piece of padded cardboard was put there in place of an extra layer by some greedy, contemptuous fatcat who enjoys peeing on the general public.
I've checked the prices of this box of chocolates online (as I received mine for a present) and it's about £8.99, which is ridiculous. I advise strongly against buying this.
Thank you, and I hope I posted this in the right section! I felt I should warn people of this so they don't make the mistake of picking them up and thinking they'd be getting good value for money or a nice treat. You can get much better chocs at half the price!

Was the weight on the box correct? If so, I don't see the rip off.Gone ... or have I?0

Depends on your point of view. I've bought and received these a few times and have never been disappointed, all a matter of taste. The amount you're getting is pretty clear, either states weight or number of chocs somewhere, not hard to compare. We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0

I am a great believer of quality over quantity when it comes to chocolate. I can't believe I ever enjoyed cheap chocolate!
If you like Lindt, the Chocolate Museum in Cologne is fab!Gone ... or have I?0 -

Are you saying I should have weighed the chocolates and then compared them to the weight value written on the box? That sounds ridiculous to me mate! If I see a large box of chocolates I think it's a fair assumption that you'd be getting more than one layer. The fact that they padded the rest of the box out with a piece of cardboard like oily snakes is infuriating. The chocolates sucked, too. I realise taste varies on a person-to-person basis but I definitely think the one-layer issue for the price is inexcusable.
Sorry, but I don't know what universe you're from where people don't feel ripped off with something if the weight on the box was correct, even if the quantity was a p-take! It's the amount of product you're receiving for the money that is the problem. The average person isn't going to know how much an individual chocolate weighs, are they? So they won't look at a box of chocs and the weight value and think "Oh no, there's only 6 chocs in here" or whatever. They'll buy the box after seeing it's quite big and think the contents will consist of multiple layers. Otherwise, why would the box be so big? It's only when they look inside that they see that bloody piece of cardboard padding the mofo out!0 -
Just wondered if you bought them or if they were a gift?January GC: £64.81/£80.00
February GC: £24.60£80.000 -
They were a present.
I'm glad I was able to experience these chocs before I made the mistake of seeing them in a shop and thinking they looked like a nice treat. I'd be furious if I'd paid for them myself!

"deluxe" covers a multitude of sins unfortunately! To be honest I have had Lindt chocs before and wasnt that struck, dont seem to taste the same as the Easter Rabbits or the Chocky Reindeers for some reason.January GC: £64.81/£80.00

The rip off is making the box look like it's got two layers in it when it only has one.
It would be natural for a person to look at one box and think there was one layer of chocolates in it, then look at the box next to it and assume that because that box was twice as high then it would have two layers in it.
The manufacturer made the box twice as high as it needed to be, and padded out the lower half with cardboard. In my mind this means they set out to con the consumer into thinking there were more chocolates in the box than there actually were.
You may say it is the consumers fault for falling for it, they should have checked the weight. But someone falling for a con is no excuse for someone setting out to con people in the first place.0 -

Did you buy them??? Or were they a present?
If someone had bought me some chocs I wouldn't be complaining about the size/how many chocs were in them. If I'd bought them myself I'd choose ones I liked - never mind how may layers there were.Looking forward to the future.0
