Laws of collection companies/bailiffs - a little help please

My mother has yesterday had her gas supply cut off (she's terrible with money) and I notice that the collections company called "Power2Contact" of Crewe, Cheshire have levied a £250 admin fee and a £35 reconnection charge if the account is paid off. Does anybody know about the laws in regards to levying these fee's?
Once again I am going to have to try and sort out this mess myself.:money:

I thought it is illegal to cut off utilities such as Water, Gas, Electric and Telephone As these are necessities to live. Consult a Solicitor re this.0

I thought it was just water they couldn't cut off? I don't think Telephone counts as necessity - know people that are regularly cut off from not paying phone bills.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

You can do that while you're cut off can't you? I know there are some numbers I can still dial on Telewest even when cut off.DFW Nerd No. 140

No all of these can be cut off apart from water.
I have had some experience of British Gas cutting someone off for non-payment via my job, and I have ot be honest they did not undertake it lightly , the person hadnt paid for about 6 years and hadnt answered phone, letters, door. In saying that tho a 250 admin fee seems a bit unlawful- Id have a look on https://www.consumeractiongroup.com/forum
Is your mother elderly? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0
