If you read the article, Martin says the scotvest isn't cheap but smilar ones from other makers are around £20 ish.
  • Cant post links..

But if you google 'Genuine Used British 1985 Patten DPM Combat Jacket'

There is another jacket there from an army surplus store with a big poachers pocket.

    Its £15

I've ordered one and will dye it black so it will look well trendy.. Also hopefully less sketchy when going through airport in an army jacket.

I'm hoping it will fit my 15" laptop in the back as its what normally puts me overweight.

I've stuffed my pockets for long trips but generally - who needs more than 10kg for a weekend trip?
Are there people who can't live without a laptop in a poachers pocket? Why not use a phone or an internet cafe. Or even live without the internetnet for 2 or 3 days.

I took 8kg to India for a month and it was plenty. Perhaps we could keep airfares down by just travelling with less. That way you don't need a wheely bag, which are heavy and take away from the amount of books & suncream you can fit in.

    Happy travels,
    Ross
Agree. I'm just back from America took well under the 20kg allowance and could have taken even less and yes I can live without a laptop for a few days.

I purchased the Scottevest to give my dad for a present. A little more than I would usually spend, but he's been a real brick for me this year and helped me out of a lot of sticky situations! Any way, back to the point.... purchased the vest and sat back. Letter from Parcel Force to pay twenty something pounds in customs fees. A little steep, but it was expected. Getting really excited now that I'm going to have something really useful to give my dad..... along came some empty packaging! Contacted the company on Monday, to be told that I would have to take packaging to my Parcel Force office..... it's miles away! Contacted Parcel Force, who informed me the sender makes the claim, so contacted the sender who told me the opposite. The problem... I still have no vest and am about £120 pounds out of pocket :-(
I am not happy at all with them.

Just found that Millets is doing an ideal travel Gilet which has a large poachers pocket... On special - was 39.99, now 14.99...
