Calling ROI from a UK mobile

It's time for my upgrade (currently with Vodafone) and I would like to get a contract where I can make calls to the Republic of Ireland (and call UK when I am there) as part of my inclusive mins, or maybe a bundle or whatever - but am so fed up of roaming charges.

Anyone able to help? I would be really grateful. :)

Vodafone do a European package that adds £20/mnth to to your contract but allows you to use your inclusive mins & Texts throughout 12 european countries.
Also Vodafone business customers dont pay to receive calls in ROI
  • I'm looking for a new contract too, so would also be interested in the replies you get.
Someone mentioned that Three Ireland still do "3 Like Home", so, if you could get a phone in the South, you could "roam" in the North & make normal priced calls to ROI - not sure if there's a fair use policy or what ID checks they'd require though. Has anyone done this?

WBH - avoid 3. I used to be with them for that very reason. Never managed to connect to 3 Ireland when across the border strangely enough, bills were huge. Gah.

Bear in mind if you got a 3 phone in the south, you'd have a southern mobile number (i.e. 085/6/7 *******) so how many of your friends / colleagues / contatcs etc... are likely to phone you when they'd have to pay an internation al call charge?

When recently deciding on my new business phone, I approached 3 & the guy didn't want to sell me a contract when I explained about my ROI useage
