    What is credit hunter??

Somewhere on this site there's a thread on which credit reference agency is used by the individual lenders... ot sure credit hunter is one of them (its Equifax, Callcredit and Experian).

(and OP - the overdraft thing will have an affect/effect (never sure which one to use))

National Hunter does not work in the same way as other credit reference agencies; Hational Hunter provides details of previous application details such as how much income you have said you have on previous applications. It is used to highlight inconsistencies eg. if you said you have lived at your address for 3 years on one loan application, and then say you have lived at you address for 20 years on another, Credit Hunter will show this information to creditors.

This may be a poor explanation. There site explains this more appropriately: http://www.nhunter.co.uk/how.html

Thats National Hunter not Credit Hunter...

There have been lots and lots of fun and games with this lot on this site aleady. I know what they're about, but as long as your applications and info remain consistent then its not a problem. Totally different to having differing information on your credit reports.

What if you realise that you previous applications have not been correct or not sure what the correct answer is. Below are two real examples that apply to me:

    1) I have said that I have lived at my (family) home for 20 years. However, whilst at university I lived in student halls for 2 years and a student house for 1 year.
    - Should I have indicated this on the applications?
    - How do I find out if any credit ref agencies knew that I lived there, the credit files that you receive are only for the addresses that you list when you apply?
    - Should I correct this on future applications? This will show inconsistancies!!

    2) I have a bank account with RBS, I have used only this bank account for the past 10 years or so for everything (wages, direct debits etc). I have recently found out that I have a bank account with Santander (previously Abbey National) that was opened when I was a child and has remained open!
    - What is regarded as my 'main' bank account?
    - Should I close one of the accounts so I have just one?
    - I have never had any charges with the Santander account (because I have never used it). Should I look to close the RBS account and use Santander as my main account i.e. I have a good history with Santander (no fines etc).

If you can help me with any of the questions, that would be great.

    Cheers!!

    Who uses which agency https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2419785

If you read this then should you have any issues wth national hunter information that is causing you to be declined they are supposed to tell you - http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/credit-rating-credit-score#fraud (it also says they shouldn't reject you on national hunter data alone).

Your RBS is your main bank account. I imagine switching to santander will probably make no difference as your RBS account will still appear on your credit files for 6years after you close it. No reason to close the santander account (if it was a child's account it probably doesn't appear on your credit reports anyway).
