Would it be worth deciding on a set amount of money for you per month, within your budget? £40 for example. Then when you get paid if you want to spend it all you can, but you know that the rest of your money isn't affected for the month ahead?
I put £50 a month aside for clothes/presents/haircuts/makeup etc and some months I spend it all once I've been paid, some months I buy bits and bobs during the month. I'm not paying off debt anymore, so maybe it is easier for me, but I just find that moving money out of your main account for these things makes it easier to budget with the money you have got left.
Are you going to put money in your joint account for food too? Might be helpful, then it is out of your main account and you have less to think about
