Hair Supplements / Growth

Hello,

I am trying to grow my hair about another 2 inches and I'm very impatient!!

I have been looking at lots of different hair supplements some of which are quite expensive, but am reluctant to spend the money unless I know that they work, Has anyone tried any? Are they worth the money?

I have looked at: Holland and Barrett Hair Skin and Nails Supplement £6.99 and Perfectil in Boots.

Also, I have seen some Caffeine Shampoos in Boots (cant remember what they're called but are in a red and black bottle) Do they actually promote hair growth or is it a con?!

Thanks in advance!

I have heard that kelp supplements are meant to be very good for hair and nail growth. I think Holland and Barrett sell them, hth.

Just be aware that there can be side effects from taking these supplements (I know because I've had them :o) so please look into that before you take them. Also, they say that some supplements can take months to start taking effect, in which time you could have grown your 2".

I am taking Biotin at the moment (since January) and have gone from 1/2" to 1" per month, which I am over the moon about. But I have also changed how I treat my hair too, so its not breaking as much. I have also been told that hair grows quicker during the summer months - so I'm not so sure that its the Biotin now. Sorry. You may be interested in this thread which discusses how to increase hair growth.

In my experience Biotin was really good. It made my hair healthier so it didn't break off as much- hence making it look like my hair was growing faster. I don't use it now as my hair's grown out to a respectable length, but when I was desperate for it to grow it did make a difference for me.

I'm sure this is all mentioned in the link supplied by flippin36, but treat your hair well- don't brush when wet, use scrunchies or chopsticks to tie up hair (avoid elastic and too tight bobbles, it'll pull your hair out), avoid heated appliances and trim regularly to avoid split ends.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Hi, I know how you feel, I am growing my hair two inches after a hairdresser cut more off than I wanted when I asked for 'just a trim'. That was a month ago so it is growing now. I am taking the hair nails and skin supplements from Holland and Barratt, I have heard that sea kelp is also good for hair growth.
  • Hii thanks for all the responses!

I am going to definitly give something a go! What is Biotin and where can you get it, also how pricey is it?!

    Thanks in advance

Holland and barrett HTH. Some people complain of spot outbreaks, and headaches can be a problem. Do some research before you buy.
  • Thank You, Id like to try it, how can I find out about side effects from it etc?
    Thanks

    Try this:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biotin

It talks about experiments involving biotin, and natural sources of biotin.
  • Thanks Il Check it out x
