Basic bank account and debt in same group

I am about to open a basic bank account to move all our dds and wages over to in preparation for sending out letters to our creditors offering them reduced payments (which they'll love but not suspect as not in default yet).
One of my debts is for a tesco credit card, but looking to open a nat west bank account - and aren't they both park of RBS group? Would they be likely to take money out for my tesco debt - or would that only happen if I had Nat West debt?
Thanks

Its unlikely that they would but it is advised to use a bank (group) where you have no debts at all. Can you not find anyone that you have no links to? What about nationwide? or co-op?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0

Mortgage is Nationwide and current current account co-op so they're both no goers. Barclays is the only one that we're nothing to do with but it's really awkward for us to get to - whereas nat west is within walking distance of our house and there's one at my work so would be easier to do banking.
I know there's some advice somewhere on this - any idea where I can find it?
Thanks again

I would use a bank you have NO connections with and have never used.

Barclays basic accounts meant to be good.

This is a list of all basic bank accounts (page5) - http://www.moneymadeclear.org.uk/pdfs/bank_accounts.pdf (annoyingly barclays are one of the few that don't run a full service from the post office -if thats nearer for you).
this is the guidance on setting off http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/banking/setting-off
It doesn't mention your banks in particular but does mention the santander banks as an example.
