Warning about Say No To 0870.

Not sure where to post this, so I put it here as is seems to always have the most people viewing it.

A friend of mine recently used Say No To 0870 and her husband called the number it gave her for their bank. After going through the various details, the person on the other end said the computers were down and after a series of questions asked him for his PIN number. He hung up immediately and called the bank on their 0845 number and was told that nothing is wrong with the computers etc.
While the website itself might be legitimate, there really is nothing to prevent scam artists from inserting their own numbers for various businesses.

    Crikey good spot :)

I do use this site quite a bit if you look towards the right hand side of the page there is a space where other peopl have left comments such as number confirmed etc etc I only use these ones.

I would email the site owner with the info so he can get the number taken down quickly.

THanks for the heads up :)

    Nice one for spotting this!

Could someone at MSE Towers take a look into this? A scam like this would be worth publicising to protect others.

But the purpose of saynoto0870.com is to give out geographic numbers instead of 0870,0845 etc. Dialling a geographical number (ie. 0207 etc) would make the number very easy to trace in the event of it being a scam.

not necessarily you can get a geographic number via certain voip providers really easily, most of them dont confirm any of your details.

Once you have the number you can divert it to a mobile of landline there would be a small amount of tracability there but if you use a softphone on your laptop or pc the only thin to trace you would be IP address and these are easily changed/disguised...................
