My current top tip for hot lunches at work would be: Check out near the tinned meats in Morrisons, there are some pouches there at 54p each. Thai Vegetable Curry, Lamb Meatballs and Chick Peas, Chilli Con Carne. Easily nuked and put into a food flask - along with rice or potato wedges.
I've had the chilli one already and it was scrummy.
200g, so not 'small'0 -
All this foody talk, I can feel Greggs calling me.0

LOL. I've been to a Greggs now, there's none anywhere near where I live now, so fancying a Greggs would involve a 200 mile round tripAll this foody talk, I can feel Greggs calling me.
I have only had a Greggs once, when they had a downloadable/print out BOGOF voucher on their Xmas Pasty in 2008. They were passable ... for the price. I'd not rush again though.0 -

There are times when I'd quite happily commit serious crime to get my hands on a greggs vanilla donut.
But I digress....
PN you missed a trick - when you go to buy a loaf, go an hour before the stores close & check out what fillings & bread is reduced for quick sale!
I'm with out vile jelly. I work f-in hard for my £. There is no way I'm gonna do my slog & then give it away to some sloppy sarnie shop or mass produced rubbish.
£6 for something which costs about 50p?
In summers, I love the flavours from home grown salad boxes I make out of what I've grown.
I also think that making your own sarnies is nicer, as you get to make them exactly as you want them. Exactly the right amount of mayo/chicken/peppers/tomato/lettuce/cress/seasonings or any other variable.
marklv where do you work? I wanna open a sarnie shop & make a killing!:TIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

All very well to prepare your own food etc but it takes time. I'm conscious of the fact that I spend far too much on lunchtime food but I do it for convenience. Nothing else. If I was unemployed then I would have plenty of time to seek out the best deals and spend all day cooking, but my job is brutally demanding of my time and energy.0 -

Your time is the most important and valuable thing that you will have in this life. Choose wisely how you spend it.
I had a job which was brutal with time & energy. I now have a job where I know what time I'll finish. I'm more likely to work over in the new job, and can say I'm definitely happier...:)It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

I takes less than 10 minutes to make a decent sandwich.
