JSA - Benefits for those who won't be entitled to income benefits?

Greetings,
My second post of the day
I left my job to retrain and educate myself, 3.5+ years ago.
During this time I was living off my savings earned from previous job and still are.
My savings are greater than those required to get JSA income support.
Would it be beneficial for me to sign up anyway?
I don't know what the contribution benefits are (I was google them shortly).
My track of thought is would it be more hassle than it's worth would I have to turn up somewhere regularly or keep providing evidence of job searching?
It's crossed my mind now as if I did want to do some courses from learningdirect I'm not sure if in my current position I would be entitled UNLESS I was signed up for JSA.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks
Rob

if your savings are less than 6k they wont be regarded. anything between 6 and 16k will mean you get less benefit but still entitled. anything over 16k you get nothing.

Well since I haven't worked in the last few years then I won't benefit for JSA contribution benefits either.0

pretty accurate, sorry to say. The benefit being with contribution based you dont have to worry how much savings you had as it isnt means tested.0 -
You can still sign on for your NI Conts to be credited. If you have been out of the workplace this may be beneficial in the long term.Gone ... or have I?0
