Does anybody deliberately not pay for parking?

Given that a fair number of carparks are privately owned/run (not sure of the exact terminology) and the general consensus appears to be to completely ignore any invoices ("fines") issued when you forget to pay or overstay .....
Does anybody here park in these carparks and deliberately choose not to pay for parking (feeling safe in the knowledge that they won't be taken to court)??
Just curious!!!
Or is it an offence to actually intend not to pay? In which case I don't expect any honest answers to the above question!

OK I'll start - no I don't.
If a private car park asks for a fair charge then I will pay it - but that's not to say that I wouldn't then overstay...;)PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I always pay.
I suppose there must be some that don't though.
Personally, I'd target the repeat offenders, after two or three weeks of tickets if I was issueing them I'd buy a cheap clamp and just clamp the car.
No ticket or release fee, and then deny all knowledge of it, and just leave the clamp on until they managed to get it off themselves.0 -
Well I don't mind paying a fair price to park, I go down the gower quite a lot and some landowners have built car parks for people to use, I think if nobody paid at all they would close them because there would be no money for upkeep etc. What I will never do is pay a ppc ticket for overstaying there, and to be fair i've never had one down there.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
Definitely pay and if I don't like the amount then find elsewhere. Try not to overstay but not a major issue if I accidentally do.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Thanks for the responses - good to see that nobody is deliberately deviant! I, too, would pay a reasonable charge without such thoughts of avoidance. It was just a thought I had earlier when I was looking up prospective carpark charges for a trip out tomorrow.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

think its only fair that you pay your way in car parks if they are not free, the people who own such land are just trying to get on in the world like the rest of us, the problem comes when scammers try and deceive people into paying ridiculous amounts of money for being a few minutes over on a ticket, or not parking square in bays and so on, they then try to scare tactics to force you into paying these tickets, they lie & scheme, not only to the people using the car parks, but to the landholder as well, they deserve nothing for their scam, oh except going out of business!Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. Local Netto car park is free for customers with a maximum 1 hour stay. It's controlled by Euro car parks. Doesn't stop me parking there when I need to be somewhere near by. It's a massive car park and is never full so it's not like I'm blocking any genuine shoppers. Funnily enough I've never got a ticket yet!

I would be worried about getting clamped or towed rather than getting a ticket.
Not much you can do once they get your car.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I don't pay when I use Morrisons. You get a refund if you buy from the store, but I shop there a lot and often use the car park for other reasons like going to the bank or getting a sandwich.
So I just don't bother with any of it.
Their sign is full of threatening and unenforceable crap about penalties anyway.
This is Euro Car Parks by the way and we know how easy they are to ignore.
Never had a ticket though, even though I've goaded the silly yellow jacket woman with a sign on the dash saying "Place unenforceable invoice here"0 -
An ASDA that I frequent request that you pay £1 and get a ticket, you will get a refund after you have shopped.
Went over to one machine and was out of order.
Didnt get a ticket and have never got a ticket to park there since. Been back maybe 20 times since 1st.
Run by TPS I was trying to get a ticket so we could get the copies of letters sent out.
One the 1st visit the traffic guy was actually standing right next to my car and there still wasent a ticket.
I wont pay to shop at ASDA just to have to Q up at customer services to get my £1, if I wasent shopping at ASDA then yes I would pay as they would in essence be losing money but not when I go shopping.I all have learnt is from others on many sites.
Seek legal help if unsure.
Dont pay Private Parking tickets - they are mere invoices.
