what to do with small change

Options
We've just emptied out the huge collection of change we had been collecting over the past year or so and are now trying to figure out what exactly we can do to change it into more manageable bills.

So far we've separated it into denomination, so baggies of 1p, 2p, 5p, etc. Can we take it to a bank like this? Obviously we'd prefer not to take it to a sorting machine as they take a cut (I think??). Comes to about £100, so...

Give to a charity of your choice.

Give to the homeless on the street.

Leave it in your bank account.

Put it towards a project / business of your own...

I don't think that was the answer they were looking for haha.

Sorting machines I believe take around 8p per £1. I think Banks have a limit on the number of bags they will take in one go. Maybe ring your local branch and ask them if they will take it, otherwise it might take a few trips.

I have lots of pots the same as you so it would be good if you could let me know what you end up doing!!

The banks or thr PO will accept bags of change for payment of services or as a deposit into an account.
They will not exchange change for notes.

Hahah. Don't worry, we have plans for this money. Our Anniversary celebration fund :). Just don't think the Luton Hoo would appreciate us dumping £100+ on the table for their services!

Do I need to take it in in any special way? Or is it basically ok just to dump it on the counter?
