Lipstick to match dress?

Okay guys...
Basically I bought this dress

and am now looking for a lipstick to match it...I have the matching bag (though am trawling charity shops tomorrow for a more interesting one), and will be matching it with either a gold or turqoise shawl as a wrap.
This dress is not a colour I would ever normally wear, but I tried it on and it fits so beautifully (was also half price in store). It's for my graduation ball .
Anyhow, wandered into John Lewis and spoke to a few of the makeup staff, who suggested a sort of pink/fuschia colour...it's quite striking, but seems to work well. I am worried that if I go for a darker lipstick it will look too vampy/gothic, and that's not me - I love bright colours and quirky things, so in that sense the fuschia would be a good match...can anyone think of any other suggestions, however? My eye makeup will be kept really simple, so that doesn't need worrying about. There was also talk of me getting a matching nail polish to go with the lipstick, but I'm not convinced they weren't just tying to add to the sale. lol.
Clothes wise, I am fab with colour, and know what works, but with makeup, for some reason I seem to draw a blank
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Hmm, I'd be tempted to go for smokey eyes and downplay the lips or keep them neutral. However, I quite like the look of this shade (go to "shades" and look at No. 44 - Praline Distinguee) which looks nice.

I totally agree with Kitchenbunny! I think you should keep the focus on your eyes, as a strong shade on your lips will sort of make your face "disappear" above the lips, IYSWIM. Strong eyes and a muted lip colour (maybe a tinted lip gloss?) will even things out and make you look more "balanced" overall.
I have this picture in my head of what it would look like, but it's hard to convey with words! lol0 -
I agree too, smokey eyes and nude or pale pink lips would look fantastic with that dress.Never argue with an idiot; they'll bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.0
