Lipstick to match dress?

Okay guys...
Basically I bought this dress
http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10001_10001_008010315053_-1?breadcrumb=Home~Women~Occasion+%26amp%3B+evening+wear~Dresses

and am now looking for a lipstick to match it...I have the matching bag (though am trawling charity shops tomorrow for a more interesting one), and will be matching it with either a gold or turqoise shawl as a wrap.
This dress is not a colour I would ever normally wear, but I tried it on and i fits so beautifully (was also half price in store). It's for my graduation ball .
Anyhow, wandered into John Lewis and spoke to a few of the makeup staff, who suggested a sort of pink/fuschia colour...it's quite striking, but seems to work well. I am worried that if I go for a darker lipstick it will look too vampy/gothic, and that's not me - I love bright colours and quirky things, so in that sense the fuschia would be a good match...can anyone think of any other suggestions, however? My eye makeup will be kept really simple, so that doesn't need worrying about. There was also talk of me getting a matching nail polish to go with the lipstick, but I'm not convinced they weren't just tying to add to the sale. lol.
Also, if it matters my hair has just been dyed - I told my hairdresser to go mad and she did, bless her. lol. I am now blessed with dark brown hair that has a sort of claret tinge, and has a few streaks of platinum woven in (not on top layer, but about half way through, so just shows underneath the brown, if that makes sense.
Clothes wise, I am fab with colour, and know what works, but with makeup, for some reason I seem to draw a blank
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
