Credit report errors

The last time that I got a credit report, it appeared that one of my debts appears on my record twice?! Once in respect of my Monument credit card, which has not been updated since I defaulted in March 2007, and also for the collector of the debt, Cabot, which is up to date. In the scheme of things, it can't be impacting on my score that much, given that my credit history is still in tarnished by my other defaults also from 2007. :A
Also, I mistakenly applied for a credit card twice the other day. It should have only been one application but I had an error with my web browser. Should I be highlighting both of these issues with Experian, who I get my reports from, or the lenders themselves?

If the Monument Credit Card details are the same (account, balance etc) - then I would report it as a dispute to Experian, but clearly state that you are only disputing that there are 2 entries. They should be able to remove one.

With regards to the searches, unfortunately it would be hard to decipher that it was a browser error at your end. It is highly unlikely that these searches will be removed by either the company, or experian. The only good news I can offer is that the searches only appear for a limited time. With equifax its 6 months, and then they disappear. It may well be the same for Experian. It would be Experian who would be best to advise on this.

Yes, the two entries are identical, so I will raise this issue accordingly. Thanks.

All good. Experian agreed, and have removed the duplicate entry.
