Bleach that doesn't smell too bad..?

I thought this was probably the most likely board to get good answers to this question, and it is health related...
I am going to have to use a lot of household bleach soon, because of some medical treatment my OH has to have. Trouble is, I hate the smell of the usual household bleach, it makes me feel quite sick. I am really bothered about the idea of my house smelling horrible for most of the time.
So I am looking for a bleach that doesn't smell too bad (or too much like cheap bleach) but that also doesn't cost the earth. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Have you tried hydrogen peroxide? Same effect, less poisonous.0

It depends on what you're doing exactly. I have a lot of cats, and disinfect the floor and surfaces with Trigene, which is what my vet uses. Granted, the 20 litres of the stuff concentrated is under £150, but it lasts for over a year, and used for all the laundry too, and it's about 2-3 loads a day. You can get 1 and 5 litre bottles too.0

To explain more: we will have to throw the bleach down the loo and let it sit there for about 15 minutes at a time (after each pee), to kill some live and virulent virus bugs so we don't flush said bugs into the sewerage system! We've been told to use about half a litre of bleach at a time (eek!), to make sure said bugs are killed. That's why I said it's a lot of bleach.
Not sure whether hydrogen peroxide will have the same effect? What does that smell like? It has to be very effective at killing the bugs.
I've no problem with using the bleach, I just want to find one that doesn't smell as awful as cheap bleach because it's going to I'd rather be non-MSE and find something that's as deadly but smells much nicer, even if it costs more, because I am dreading the thought of the house smelling of like a cheap toilet all the time! That cheap bleach smell really does make me feel ill.
So..... are there any nice smelling ones out there?0 -
Hydrogen peroxide is replacing bleach in a significant number of industrial applications, as doing the same thing, but being more environmentally friendly. It is more expensive, which is what makes it not always the first agent of choice.
Trigene is an agent that's used to disinfect kennels and catteries, for bacteriacidal and virucidal agents. It comes in unscented, green, purple and yellow (the colours are different scents, but I hate them, being someone who is REALLY sensitive to smell). I now only use the unscented version.

There are other products out there that do the same thing, your doctor should be able to recommend a couple.
Basically, I'd have a word with an intelligent health worker about the alternatives. I say intelligent because in every profession, there are the "There-Is-One-Way-And-Only-One-Way" drones, and the thinking ones, who can actually imagine and discuss!0 -
How is it going, BlondeHead?0
