Helping create a School Garden - any freebies out there?

Hello
I've volunteered to help create a garden at the school my son goees to. Gots lots of ideas and found lots of information on the internet but thought I'd give this a shot as well. Any suggestions of where I can get freebies would be much appreciated. We need the lot - planters, poly tunnels, water butts, seed trays, tools, seeds, etc. We have some funds available but the less we have to spend the better. Also if anyone has any advice about doing it but would great. Thanks
:j Survey sites are boring but points add up if you persist with it - Great way to save up for xmas! Quidco is brill, watching the money pile up. Every penny counts !! :T

have you tried asking for stuff off "freegle" - the freecycle site?

    http://www.freegle.org.uk/

you would get plastic plant pots off there no problem, and probably other stuff too

I would agree with bargain_babs. I often post garden stuff on Freecycle/Freegle that I want to clear out. Plants mainly but also plant pots. I've also been lucky enough to receive paving slabs, (ideal for garden paths) and compost bins and water butts that people wanted to get rid of. Give it a try.

I do our school garden too. We've done the following:

    Ask parents & teachers
Plant sale - usually raises £600 from donated plants
    Quizes/competitions
    Applying for grants

Shame you're not nearer to us as we've got tons of seed trays, plant pots and a compost bin going begging

I did my school garden a few years ago. We got a grant from NPower for about £500. There might be something similar near you. I also got loads of stuff from Freecycle. We had old pots and pans for a musical washing line, tyres for plant pots and lots of plants.
