It states on experian that these defaults stay on file for 6 years after the date of default but its still on there . Is this right or do i need to speak to someone somewhere to have it removed ???

It may take a few weeks to drop off after the 6 years date. You could email or ring experian and ask.

Don't take this literally but i was under the impression that defaults stay on the report for 6 years after the settlement date? Does anyone know?

It's six years from the date of default, not the date of settlement.
