claiming SMP....Can I work from home

Hi

I am seriously considering signing up for the texting chatlines to earn a little extra cash, but am claiming SMP. will it affect payments?? thanks.

    I don't think you can "work" whilst you are claiming SMP unless it is voluntary work.

    I am not sure what the rules are with Maternity Allowance though? (if that's what you are claiming)

    If you are claiming SMP, you can do self employed work without affecting your claim, but if you work for an employer it can affect the SMP.

    If you are claiming maternity allowance, you can't do any work at all, be it employed or self employed.
    Here I go again on my own....
