Warburtons Tiger bread? I've never seen that in the shops before, but I'll certainly keep a look out now- I can't imagine that the crust can be as crispy as an in-store bakery loaf though?...0 -

I haven't seen it either, it's on their site though.
I love tiger bread, it smells divine but is very addictive (and I have to eat it quickly or my whole kitchen smells of it) Morrison's tiger bread is lovely, I got a fresh loaf from there one day which was still warm.
Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

I used to work in a bakery and we made tiger bread. It's a slightly fermented rice-flour paste that they paint on top before baking. You can find recipes online but they're not often for domestic quantites, as it's a bit of hassle to make at home and it's not always reliable, at a guess I'd think that there's various other additives in the commercial stuff to make it consistent. I don't think it's traditional to put sesame oil in it, I think that's something the commercial bakeries (and supermarkets) do to give it flavour, as they won't be giving it a proper slow rise.0

A little bit of a diversion but Asda's Olive bread was £1 (instead of about £1.50) this week. It's a delicious treat with summer meals. Not sure if it's a permanent offer.0
