Moggins - I had a look at the Argos link and it looks very posh! I didn't realise that they now came with "proper" oven functionality (ie you can set them to a temperature) - my Panny is limited to the grill/browner/heaty element which you can set to three temperatures, rather than a full-on oven type setting. I must admit we use the pre-set cooking programs most on the panasonic - the Delonghi seems to have lots of those which is nice.
You might want to check whether or not it has a timer - I use it for soaking my chickpeas. Soak overnight, change water in morning, program microwave to cook chickpeas at around 5-6pm, so they're done when I come back from work.
Earlier I mentioned that I haven't baked in a microwave but one thing I have done is made steamed sponge puddings. They work very well and take no time at all compared to steaming!0 -
I've got a Panasonic one which I've had about 7 yrs. I tried baking cakes in it on the convection setting but I wasn't that impressed. It does brilliant baked potatoes and roasts a chicken quite efficiently too.I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.
