Gift idea for our new daughter in law

Hello, hope all you brides might be able to help with some ideas please.

Our son is getting married soon and we'd like to give his bride a gift from her new in-laws. When I was married (all those years ago!) my MIL gave me a gold necklace which I still wear a lot.

With a budget of up to £100, what [lasting] gift would you be most pleased to receive from your new in-laws.

(PS - asked our son, he said "I dunno" - what a surprise)

Thanks

    What a lovely idea....
I think it would be so nice to receive that type of present.
What about something like some simple earrings maybe pearls...you could consider something along the lines of a charm bracelet that could be added to for significant occaisions.
A necklace is also a great idea...how about a locket or your DIL birthstone
I think if you keep your gift simple but classic you cant go wrong...

wow, what a lovely mil, honestly i think whatever you choose she probably isnt expecting it and will be chuffed that you thought of her, doubt my mil would do the same, lol, infact i wouldnt be surprised if they didnt bother getting us a joint present! and they dont do cards so there wont be one of those either!!

i think that charm bracelet is the nicest idea but depends whether she likes bracelets. also agree pandorra or simillar (chamilla, troll beads etc) is the way to go as they are very modern/funky!

back to comping in 2017, fingers crossed
  • Love the idea of the bracelet, my son bought his partner a troll bracelet and it's been great to be able to add different troll beads for birthday's and Christmas's.
  • if your son can't advise, can you speak to her mother? my h2b has completely different taste to me, but my mum gets it spot on every time...

Many thanks for your ideas so far - we had thought of jewellery but wanted to see if that was what you would all like to receive, so you've confirmed it for us.

Good idea too about speaking to her Mum, which I will do tomorrow

Thanks again - any more suggestions gratefully received

I'd avoid troll/pandora type bracelets - they may be fashionable now, but may not be in a few years time - probably be a new fad out then (and not everyone likes them). But you will be better placed to know if she will like that kind of thing or not.

A necklace or charm type bracelet is more timeless and can be added to or changed to be worn for all sorts of occasions.
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.

I think she's more of a "classics" girl. Our challenge is that she's inherited jewellery from both her grandmothers so she already has quite a few pieces (most of which stay in boxes); her favourite is a Tiffany style necklace which my son bought for her not long after they met.

Having said that it's useful that you're all suggesting jewellery rather than anything else.
